From Ziano to Lavazè, up to Cermis: a great world of roller skis is approaching in Val di Fiemme

Discovering the competition sites for a world championship event that will kick off on Thursday with many champions at the start.

Ziano, in Val di Fiemme, is dressing up as well as Lavazè and the Cermis area. This is the week of the roller ski world championships, which return to Trentino after the success of 2015, for four days, from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 September, with intense competitions open to juniors and seniors. Exceptionally, on the last day of the World Championship also amateurs will be able to participate with an “Open” trial to be framed, with the legendary climb to Cermis, a bit like in winter in the final of the Tour de Ski. Fiemme Committee at work, the same as the World Cup, with an army of volunteers to ensure the perfect running of competitions that will have the task of assigning the world scepter and the respective medals, but also the last precious points that will decide the classification of the Cup of the world. Four race formats, with the new Passo Lavazè track tiptoeing into the world championship atmosphere. In fact, Thursday the opening race in the afternoon, from 14.45 at Lavazè with the Interval Start in free technique over distances of 10 km (junior and senior women), 13 km (junior males) and 16 km (senior males). On Friday in Ziano (from 5 pm) the adrenaline-pumping Sprint will be staged, 200 meters of pure spectacle and where the Azzurri are expected to have a great test, then on Saturday the Team Sprint, also in Ziano, a discipline in which Italy won the last World Cup held in 2019. Two days in Ziano all in free technique, while on Sunday the Mass Start will be held in classic technique, 15 km with a first stretch all around Ziano and the epilogue on the Alpe del Cermis. Athletes from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Morocco, Norway, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Thailand, Taipei and Ukraine will compete. Italy focuses on Matteo Tanel, Emanuele and Francesco Becchis, Michael Galassi, Luca Curti, Riccardo Lorenzo Masiero, Alessio Berlanda, Michele Valerio, Aksel Artusi, Riccardo Munari, Giovanni Lorenzetti and Marco Gaudenzio, then female on Elisa Sordello, Laura Mortagna, Sabrina Borettaz and Maria Gismondi. Tommaso Dellagiacoma, Elia Barp, Andrea Zorzi, Stefano Carli, Francesca Cola, Anna Maria Ghiddi, Elisa Brocard and Ilenia Defrancesco are also summoned. There is still room for the Open race, registrations will in fact close at noon on Friday 17th. The competition follows the format of the seniors, therefore 15 km in classic technique with the ascent of Cermis. And at the start we will see, on equal terms, amateurs and agonists and how many not included in the shortlist of the four athletes per nation accepted at the World Championship. A race within a race.
