Skiroll: the two Mass Starts, first in classical technique and then on Sunday in skating, marked the latest stage of the Coppa Italia with the same winners, but competition was wide open over the weekend in the province of Isernia. And now the grand finale of the World Cup in Val di Fiemme...
Riccardo Lorenzo Masiero and Maria Invernizzi triumphed in the two-day event, entirely dedicated to mass-start races, for the Coppa Italia NextPro in Capracotta.
Saturday saw the opening with the classic-technique Mass Starts: the 24-year-old from Sci Club Valdobbiadene crossed the finish line 28”4 ahead of teammate Riccardo Munari, with Matteo Tanel (Robinson Ski Team) third at 1’35”. In the women’s race, Maria Invernizzi (Comunità Montana Valsassina) prevailed in a sprint over Paola Beri, with Giulia Semproni (Winter SC Subiaco) third.
In the under-16 category, the winners were Davide Gasbarro (Pescocostanzo) and Sara Proietti Cignitti (Winter SC Subiaco), while Giacomo Miaci and Sara Di Fusco (Winter SC Subiaco) dominated the under-14s.
Sunday’s finale was the skating race: Masiero edged out Munari only in the sprint, with Tanel again completing the podium but 58” behind; for the Valsassina talent, the double came by once again beating Beri, this time by a wide margin (50”), with Maria Angelaccio (Capracotta) third at 3’01".
For the skiroll scene, the grand finale of the World Cup will take place once again in Val di Fiemme from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September.
