Marcialonga No. 54 broadens its horizons: three proposals on narrow skis for participants

Marcialonga never stops!

While runners from all over Italy and the world are preparing to take part in the 24th Marcialonga Running Coop on 5 September, in the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys the committee behind the prestigious Trentino brand has been working for some time with snow and narrow skis in mind. Autumn is getting ever closer and, as they say, time flies; Marcialonga Ski is therefore renewing its traditional appointment on 31 January 2027, with its 54th edition already welcoming participants from all over the world.

From the fittest athletes to first-time "bisons", countless participants have already secured their race bib, while everyone else has no time to lose. Reduced online entry fees are in effect until Monday 31 August for registration in one of the three options: from the 70 km flagship distance, through the 45 km "Light" version, to the 32 km Just for Fun, the major new feature for next year.

According to Marcialonga general secretary Davide Stoffie, this new option represents an ideal opportunity to introduce people to cross-country skiing, opening the Marcialonga experience to an even wider audience: "I believe it is a great opportunity to bring even more people closer to the world of cross-country skiing. It is a discipline with extraordinary characteristics, allowing people to experience the mountains at a different pace, without the need for particularly complex infrastructure for those who practise it.

It can be practised in company, chatting and sharing a few hours with friends or family, or completely alone when you simply need to switch off".

Founded in 1971, Marcialonga quickly established itself as one of the major international long-distance cross-country skiing events, becoming Italy's best-known granfondo and one of the most prestigious in the world. Its historic presence on the Ski Classics calendar has further cemented that status. What makes Marcialonga so special, however, is not only its competitive aspect, but also a dimension that goes beyond sport. "The experience Marcialonga is able to offer is unique," Stoffie continues. "The valley residents turn the race into an extraordinary event.

For a skier who may be used to covering kilometres immersed in nature and silence, entering a village and finding music, cowbells, children and families along the course cheering their name is something truly special. It is a success born from the combination of a race with great sporting prestige and an experience that is difficult to find anywhere else".

The next Marcialonga event is scheduled for Saturday 5 September, with the "Running Coop" race, and as soon as the final competitor crosses the finish line, the countdown to the eagerly awaited Marcialonga Ski will officially begin. The next edition will once again feature its customary rich programme of side events, with registration opening in October. Marcialonga never stops, and the show goes on!
