Falla wins in Lahti and consolidates the lead in the sprint ranking

Fifteenth career victory for the Norwegian who won the Lahti free technique sprint, ahead of Nilsson and Falk.

This morning in the qualifying Falla had recorded "only" the 12th time, but the music has changed already since the first eliminatory round. The duel seen at Pyeongchang, the one with Stina Nilsson, has been repeated since the quarter-finals. After having easily passed the first two rounds, the two rivals came from favorites to the final, where the victory was played. Falla launched the decisive attack on the last bumps, taking ten meters of advantage, which increased in the descent to the stadium thanks to excellent materials. On the final straight, Norge was able to resist Nilsson's comeback attempt, who fought for second place with compatriot Falk, who won the qualification and third at the end of the race. Thanks to this success Falla lengthens in the classification of specialties, the advantage is now 28 points and everything will be decided in the last two sprints of the season, in Drammen and Falun. Even Sophie Caldwell, 8th and with 85 points to be recovered, has not yet been cut out of the crystal ball fight. Out of the podium for just a tenth the German Ringwald who preceded the Swedish Ida Ingemarsdotter and the Swiss Laurien Van der Graaff. On the other hand, the Swedes Dahlqvist and Dyvik, the German Winkler, the US Caldwell, the Swiss Faehndrich and Marit Bjoergen stopped at the semi-finals. Greta Laurent, the only Italian to have taken part in the final stages, concluded 22nd after leading a decent quarter-final. Some of the big names in the circuit, 19th Oestberg, 21st Pärmäkoski and 26th Weng, have also finished in the rear. Tomorrow at 11:15 am Italian time the athletes will return to the track for a 10 km classic style. Here the Sprint ranking! Here the complete result of today's race!
