WORLD CUP HISTORY SKIATHLON
The Skiathlon in the current conception gives the world title starting from the edition of the Val di Fiemme in 2003. That of Lahti will be the seventh gold medal in the history of this format.
The king of the world is Skiathlon Petter Northug winning 2 Gold (Liberec 2009 and Oslo 2011). At the level of nations, the medals of Skiathlon Male sees the command Norway with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes, followed by Russia (1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze), from Germany and Switzerland with 1 Gold and 1 Silver and by France with 1 Gold. A medal also Italy (1 silver and 2 bronzes) and Canada (1 bronze), while surprising to find Sweden with paltry tally of 1 Silver.

SKIATHLON THE TOP LEVEL OF THE SEASON IN PROGRESS
During this season have played two Skiathlon in top-level competitions, to Oberstdorf inside the Tour de Ski, won by Sergey Ustiugov front of Martin Johnsrud Sundby and Dario Cologna, and that of Pyeongchang, characterized by heavy absences and won by Petr Sedov Daniel Stock and Mathias Rundgreen.
The best result of an Italian is the thirteenth place of Francesco De Fabiani got in Oberstdorf, while Pyeongchang team was totally absent.
SKIATHLON THE TOP LEVEL IN LAHTI
4 are the Skiathlon or Double top level tracking disputatisi in Lahti, all of the World Cup. The only man capable of repetition is Dario Cologna, who won March 12, 2011 and March 3, 2012, while in the other two occasions were imposed Maurice Manificat March 6, 2010 and Martin Johnsrud Sundby February 21, 2016.
No podium for Italy in Skiathlon played in Lahti. The best finish, and only the top ten, is the fourth-place finish by Roland Clara in the race of 12 March 2011.
PROGRAM LAHTI 2017
The male Skiathlon that will award the world title in 2017 will be held Saturday, February 25. The departure time is scheduled for 13.30 Italian, local 14:30.
