Level One, turn snowplough

A Level One skier learns the technical skills necessary to safely descend moderately steep slopes in a snow plow position. The student learns to remain in balance during the descent by making changes of direction that allow him to move independently during the descent.

How long does one stay at level ONE during the learning process? Based on the aptitude, the physical, psychological and technical aspects that characterize the student, the educational path can be of a shorter or longer duration and the development of skills does not necessarily have to be progressive. In some cases the student can progress quickly to pass to the next level after just a few hours, in other cases it may take several days. The technical objective of the introductory level is to "learn how to turn snow plow", you need to learn to "change direction to snow plow", to "connect changes of direction to snow plow" and finally make a "series of direction changes to snow plow in different environments ". As for the choice of skis for level ONE, it is advisable to choose a pair of skis, even cheap ones of a reduced length, shorter than the skier's height, falling into the "all mountain" category. It is good to adopt easy-to-fit boots, which ensure sufficient comfort. The safety binding is very important in this learning phase, it must be functional, with an adjustment scale suitable for the weight of the skier.
