Spring, or at least its beginning between March and April, is an ideal time to enjoy a holiday at high altitude: offers are countless with discounted ski passes and white week at bargain prices, the days are longer and, once taken off the skis, you can end the day by taking the sun in a cabin, perhaps in front of a "hugo". Not only. There is also one more reason to consider a ski holiday at the end of the season. The mountain dresses up to say goodbye to ski lovers the following December with a rich calendar of events across the Alps suitable for all tastes.

In Ischgl, in the Landeck, to celebrate the long season of skiing that closes on May 1, this year was called Lenny Kravitz. Starting April 13, the artist will sing new and old hits from the Idapl's natural stage on the slopes of the Silvretta-Arena, at an altitude of 2300 meters for the Top of the Mountain Concert. From "Are you gonna my way" to "Fly away" ... It's not every day to ski with Lenny Kravitz in the background! For Easter, on April 21st, German singer Johannes Oerding will cheer up the Silvretta-Arena skiers. The concerts are included in the ski pass. In Sölden, in the astonishing scenario of the Ötztal mountains, there are two dates to mark. First of all the Electric Mountain Festival, now in its eighth edition, on April 4 and 5, with Robin Schulz, R3HAB, DJEdx, Le Shuux, Lost Frequencies, Laidback Luke and Martin Jensen that will give life to 2200 meters at a two days of pure adrenaline. On April 12th, again in Sölden, the Rettenbach Glacier at 3000 meters, will tell the legend of "Hannibal" with a colossal set up created by Lawine Torrèn that provides with 500 artists and athletes involved, as well as snowmobiles, helicopters, paratroopers and skiers. The show offers the descent to Italy of the Carthaginian commander who, in 218 BC, crossed the Alps in just ten days with an army of 60 thousand people, thousands of horses and 37 elephants. Hannibal came out defeated ... but this is another story ... the legend remains
In Mayerhofen, Austria, dj sets and concerts go on stage for a whole week: from 8 to 13 April the Snowbombing, now in its twentieth edition, sees alternating on the snow and on the stage protagonists of the international musical scene as Groove Armada and FatboySlim. Finally, in St Anton, the "New Orleans meets Snow" festival comes to life from 5 to 7 April.
In the Dolomites, the goodbye to the snow season is finally full of pure vintage fun. In Alta Badia on 6 and 7 April, for the fifth consecutive year, the Ski Carousel Vintage Party will take place, with clothing, equipment, music and recipes proposed in the "strictly pre-90s" shelters.
For the sportsmen the emerging trend at the end of the season are instead the snow volley events, that is the "beach volley" played on snow fields instead of sand: for the snow volley tournaments exactly the same rules of the summer version are applied. To attend this show on the snow you can go on 9 March to Disentis, a little gem in the heart of the Swiss Grisons surrounded by peaks that reach the three thousand meters like the Gemsstock, for a tournament open to all, while from 12 to 14 April to St Anton Am Arlberg, in the Austrian Tyrol, where the fifth edition of the Snow Snowball-European Snow Tour takes place with 32 teams competing for the final victory. Among the curious sporting events that close the ski season, the lawful rope descent that will take place on March 30th in Hochfuegen, also in Austria, is particularly intriguing.

Il paper di Banca d'Italia analizza gli effetti sui flussi turistici e sull'ambiente nei 4 anni successivi all'iscrizione delle Dolomiti nella lista dei Patrimoni Mondiali dell'Umanità, avvenuta nel 2009. A fronte di un incremento delle presenze, il numero di strutture turistiche non è cresciuto e quello di posti letto si è ridotto. Ai maggiori flussi turistici non si è associato né un aumento del consumo di suolo né una maggiore produzione di rifiuti, dimostrando il potenziale del riconoscimento UNESCO nel generare benefici economici locali senza compromettere la qualità ambientale, a condizione che siano in atto un efficace coordinamento istituzionale e solide garanzie normative.
