Coronavirus, Christmas markets in Trentino Alto-Adige canceled

The coronavirus also stops the Christmas markets that this year will not fill the streets and squares of Trentino Alto-Adige.

Due to the coronavirus, the Christmas markets in Trentino-Alto Adige have been canceled for this year. The risk of gatherings is too high. This was communicated by Arno Kompatscher, President of the Region, according to whom the priority is to ensure the functioning of the school and businesses. The news was already in the air. The mayor of Trento, Franco Ianeselli, had declared: “In light of the contagion situation and the contents of the Dpcm we consider that there are no markets, at the moment everything is pushing in that direction. We also said that we hold Christmas as a community, so we could think of other forms, but that there cannot be markets as it has been in recent years seems obvious to me. At the moment it seems unlikely that they can be kept ". Even the mayor of Bolzano, Renzo Caramaschi, had expressed many doubts about the conduct of the Christmas markets: “It's all very complicated. Food and drinks that are not consumed at the tables are not allowed, it is difficult to control the distance and the number of people ". Trento, Roveretto, Vipiteno, Bressanone, Bolzano, Merano. During the Christmas holidays, villages and towns were filled with stalls selling Christmas decorations, Tyrolean biscuits and sweets, mulled wine and hot chocolate. A Christmas atmosphere that already from the end of November attracted many tourists from all over Italy and who for this year will have to give up breathing the magic of Christmas in the streets of Trentino Alto-Adige.

Argentera

Argentera
