Ski Rental Summit 2022, on April 14 the event dedicated to the rental sector at Prowinter Season Finale

Ski Rental Summit 2022 will be held on 14 April at Fiera Bolzano, as part of the Prowinter Season Finale, an appointment to analyze the data collected by ProwinterLab on the network of ski rentals in Italy.

At the end of this winter season, the ProwinterLab observatory will present the data related to the ski rental market in Italy, and which will be discussed at the Ski Rental Summit, the usual end-of-calendar meeting that photographs the state of the art of a sector. extremely important for the mountain economy. An observation point on the world of snow that will be analyzed in every gear of the supply chain starting from the plant engineers, passing through the equipment manufacturers and ending with the privileged interlocutor of the Prowinter fair: the renters. The winter that is closing, in fact, has been marked by many factors of change, among all the reshaping of the value chain in the production of sporting goods and mountain clothing "and for this reason it is more necessary than ever to carry out an accurate analysis that allows to outline a realistic perspective on the expectations of next season »comments Geraldine Coccagna, Brand Manager of Prowinter. Alongside elements of risk and uncertainty, there are also data that allow us to look with optimism at the recovery of winter tourism. One figure above all: from the questionnaire addressed by ProwinterLab to the Italian ski equipment renters, it emerges that 94% of the rentals reopened with regular hours. A significant aspect that emerged from the ProwinterLab survey concerns the uncertainty linked to delays in the supply chain, which pushes renters to downsize their purchases for the next season: 38.5% of them plan to replace obsolete or damaged products, 21% foresee a reduced - albeit significant - expenditure, and only 18% seem to foresee a return to the pre-pandemic situation. The remaining 20% is divided between those who completely exclude end-of-season purchases, and those who have not yet decided. Among the most interesting innovations of winter 2021/22 is the expansion of the network of ski mountaineering equipment hirers: over 57% of hirers have equipment for skimo (as young lovers of skins usually call this discipline and fresh snow), but the rate of use marks the step compared to the expectations placed in the discipline, after the boom of last winter. Despite a not exactly optimal season from a climatic point of view, snowshoes are the great protagonists of mountain rentals: over 91% of renters say they have a snowshoe park in their business consisting of equipment for men, women and children. The Ski Rental Summit will also touch on the topic of alternative resources for rental activities including, in particular, the possibility of alternating winter rental with a summer bicycle rental activity. In fact, more and more tourists see Italy as the paradise of cycle tourism, and the phenomenon of ski rental is emerging which in the summer period is "converted" to the world of two-wheeled pedals. At the moment, this phenomenon affects 31% of the renters interviewed, of which 40% say they include at least 50 ebikes in their assortment, but as evidence of the growth potential of this market, 9% of winter renters are gearing up to have of this service starting from summer 2024. One thing is certain: as these data testify, rental is experiencing a phase of profound change, and to understand it it is essential that all the players in the sector work together to analyze it and seize the opportunities for market growth. Prowinter Season Finale will also be the ideal opportunity this year for the growth of this cooperation.
