An update on the slopes of the Friuli Venezia Giulia ski areas open from 2 to 7 January.

Thanks to the low temperatures recorded in the last few days, it was possible to artificially snow and open almost all the slopes of the regional poles. This week, in fact, you can ski on all the slopes of the Sella Nevea-Kanin and Zoncolan poles and the famous Di Prampero slope in Tarvisio is also totally open. In addition, some athletes of the Italian national team and of international alpine skiing teams are training on the slopes of the Friuli Venezia Giulia ski centers in view of the special slalom in Zagreb to be held on 4 and 5 January: on the Zoncolan trains the athletes of the Italian men's national team until January 4, while the girls of the Canadian, Slovenian and Tarvisian national teams Lara Della Mea, athlete of the Italian national team, train in Tarvisio.
THE DETAILS OF THE OPEN SLOPES
Sella Nevea - Kanin: all lifts and slopes are open. Make sure you have connections with Slovenia and for the cross-country skiing fans, the Pista Prevala is open.
Zoncolan: the area is completely open with the exception of the Madessa and Cjalcenal school camps. The Freestyle Arena and the new carpet that facilitates the connection from the parking lots to the skiable property are also open.
Tarvisio: all the ski lifts are open and you can ski on the entire track of the Di Prampero slope, served by the Monte Lussari cable car. The opening of almost all the slopes of the Duke of Aosta area is also guaranteed, with the exception of slopes A, B and c2. The rail bob and the sled area of the playground on the Piana dell’Angelo are also open. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, a 1.3km ring is open at the Paruzzi Arena.
Piancavallo: all the lifts and most of the slopes are open with the exception of the Sauc, Salomon tracks and the snowpark. Nevelandia, the bobsled on rails and 500 meters of cross-country skiing are also open. If the weather conditions allow it, in the coming days other slopes will be opened.
Sappada: most of the lifts open with the exceptions of the Miravalle and Hochbolt chairlifts. On the slopes you can ski on the Monte Siera Turistica, Creta Forata, Taisa, Pian dei Nidi, Eiben Col dei Mughi Nazionale, Monte Siera Nazionale and Turistica. The Campetti 1 and 2 school and Nevelandia ski slope for children are also open. As for cross-country skiing, a 5km ring is guaranteed in Cima Sappada, while a 3.3 km track will be open in the Cross Country Stadium.

Above all the ski lifts and all the slopes are open, with the only exception of the Varmost 1 slope for the descent to the valley bottom. In the Davost area, all beginner slopes are open and the Cimacuta slope is being prepared. In Santaviela there is a ring of 1300 meters for cross-country skiing. The Fantasy Snow Park is also open with its play area featuring inflatables and a toboggan / bob run.
THE EVENTS FROM 2 TO 7 JANUARY
Forni Avoltri hosts the Italian youth championships and the Italian biathlon jib cup
Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 January in the Carnia Arena International Biathlon Center in Forni Avoltri the absolute Italian biathlon championships valid for the categories: Aspirants, Youth and Juniors are staged. A competition of absolute importance enriched by the presence of several athletes of the Italian national World Cup who decided to use the event organized by the ASD Monte Coglians and the Sci Cai Trieste ASD and also valid for the Coppa Italia Fiocchi seniores circuit, such as test bench for the next international events. In fact, at the Carnia Arena in Forni Avoltri, the sappadina Lisa Vittozzi, world silver in charge in the individual, the carnico Giuseppe Montello and the blue national teams Nicole Gontier, Federica Sanfilippo and Alexia Runggaldier, enter the race. Appointment therefore for 09.30 on Saturday 4 January with the sprint tests, Sunday 5 January instead starting from 09.30 the chase races will start.
Villages and Nativity scenes
Until January 6 it is possible to admire the splendid nativity scenes set in the village of Sutrio, at the foot of Mount Zoncolan, through a path that leads to the rediscovery of courtyards, loggias and cellars of the most characteristic houses. The cribs exhibited were not only made by the artisans of Sutrio and other countries of Carnia, but also by artisans from Italian regions such as Alto Adige and Veneto, and foreigners, such as Slovenia and Carinthia. To frame the event, then, a characteristic craft market is scheduled, scenes of a living Nativity scene with representations of the various moments of the Nativity, tasting of traditional specialties, music and much more.

Listed for years among the "most beautiful villages in Italy", the village of Val Colvera hosts a review of some of the most beautiful nativity scenes on the peninsula, opening its sixteenth-century buildings to house over a hundred nativity scenes on windowsills, gardens and courtyards. exposure throughout the Christmas period. Some reach considerable dimensions, others are welcomed in imaginative settings: a tiny copper saucepan, a tree root, a loaf of bread that cradles a very small Jesus inside. Everything unfolds in a suggestive, almost fairytale setting with fruit, flowers and wood, Christmas music and soft lights, capable of enchanting over twenty thousand visitors every year and transforming the village, lying gently on the slopes of the mountain, into a nativity scene too, hence the name of the event "Poffabro: the Nativity scenes ".
