An indoor ski slope could be built in Arese in the former Fiat - Alfa Romeo area.

The Regional Council approved the update of the supplementary act to the Program Agreement aimed at the redevelopment and reindustrialization of the former Fiat-Alfa Romeo area which is located between the municipalities of Arese, Linate and Garbagnate Milanese.
The Regional Councilor for Metropolitan City Development, Stefano Bolognini, announced that by 30 September the times, interventions, resources and commitments of all public and private entities that have signed up to the agreement for the completion and signing of the supplementary act.
"More precisely, the Board will have a mandate to investigate the possibility of installing functional structures for the 2026 Olympics," said Councilor Stefano Bolognini.
In fact, the project involves the construction of a Ski Dome. Antonio Rossi, Undersecretary of the Region with responsibility for Sport, the 2026 Olympics and major events, underlined: "The construction of the 'Ski Dome' in Arese could open up important sporting and tourist perspectives for Milan and all of Lombardy, and could also take on an interesting Olympic significance. The indoor track to be built inside the ski building could, in fact, be used for targeted training, which can be carried out 365 days a year, and for tests by the Olympic and Paralympic national teams, engaged in 2026 on the snows of Valtellina ".
"Furthermore - continued Undersecretary Antonio Rossi - the Ski Dome could become a training point for alpine skiing technicians. Beyond the Games, however, with the appropriate investments, the Ski Dome could be a candidate to host important international events. . Furthermore, a structure like the one in the project could turn into an important pole of attraction for thousands of Milanese who could ski a stone's throw from home.
The subgretary concluded by saying: "At the tourist-sporting level it could, finally, exert a strong attraction for 365 days a year towards ski lovers from the whole Region and other parts of the country who could delight in slalom and evolutions there. on the snow even in August ".
