Intersport International Corporation (IIC) has officially confirmed the turnover of 2012: another record year for retail sales network that has more than 5,000 stores, present in 40 countries. Retail sales increased to 10 , 2 billion, compared with € 9.9 billion in 2011, not including sales generated by the chain "The Athlete's Foot", acquired at the end of last year.

Intersport International is a brand created in 1968, when 10 national societies met with the ultimate goal of creating an international sporting goods that were able to maximize their investments to promote, optimize replenishment processes, offer customers high quality services and ottentere trust in retailers.
For the current year, IIC provides stable sales levels of 2012, mainly because of a decline in consumer spending caused by the end the ongoing crisis in Europe. In 2012 to drive sales were especially running and fitness, while the outdoor industry has remained stable, after many years of strong growth. The category of winter sports has been a marked increase mainly because of the good conditions innevament and weather conditions favorevoi recorded in the months of January, February and December. In geographical terms, the increase was mainly fueled by strong growth in Germany, Finland, France and most of the Eastern European countries.
 The possibilities for future growth, according to company officials with headquarters in Bern (CH) could be achieved by moving into new markets. Intersport is planning some investment in Morocco, where it will open three stores by the end year through a new joint venture aimed at Intersport Espana. During the month of August IIC Intersport will then enter the Chinese market with three stores, while in the first half of 2014, proposed to open three new stores in Belarus. By the end of 2012 the brand Intersport will count 5,419 points of sale, as well as about 400 obtained through the acquisition of The Athlete's Foot.
