First official day in Beijing 2022 and first medals also in biathlon. For the third edition in history, the mixed relay will be held, which since its debut in Sochi 2014 has always seen Italy on the podium. A nation starts with the underdogs but there are many contenders for the fight for the medal.

In Sochi 2014, Norway won the gold medal ahead of the Czech Republic and Italy, who lined up Karin Oberhofer, Wierer, Hofer and Windisch on the occasion. Four years later, in Pyeongchang 2018 the baton changed hands, with France Olympic champion ahead of Norway and Italy, with Lisa Vittozzi taking over from Oberhofer.
Today the blue quartet Vittozzi, Wierer, Bormolini and Hofer will go hunting for a historic trio. However, Italy starts as outsiders, since at least three nations start in front of the "starting grid".

Norway is ready to take back the scepter and a favorite side for gold, ahead of France (which will have a completely different quartet compared to Korea) and Sweden. Said of Italy, Russia, Belarus and Germany also start with podium ambitions. The wind could play a decisive role and perhaps give surprises. In the only previous season, in Oberhof (where the fractions were however reversed compared to today) Norway won ahead of Belarus and France. The norge are at the start with three consecutive victories in the World Cup and as reigning world champions.

A Dobbiaco, invece, le 10 km in alternato hanno regalato il successo a Davide Graz e Maria Gismondi, all'interno della cornice della Nordic Arena per quella che è stata la prima tappa della Coppa Italia invernale.
