Triumph of the Russians in male hockey, the German ice miracle fades

In addition to the 30 km of cross-country skiing, three titles were awarded on the closing day of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.

Sweden dominated in the final 8-3 with South Korea and won its third gold in the last four Olympics in women's curling, no longer with the legendary Anette Norberg, winner in 2006 and 2010, but with Anna Hasselborg as skip. In the four-man bob Francesco Friedrich is a gold medal after the success ex-aequo with Canada in the two-man bob and Germany wins all three events of the sport of gut entered the White Games program since the first edition, in 1924. Also in this case there is an ex-aequo but for silver, something that has never occurred in this race: seconds at 53 cents are the other German crew led by Nico Walther and the South Korean driven by Won Yunjong. Twenty-seventh and not admitted to the fourth and last heat the only blue crew led by Simone Bertazzo: an infinite sadness for a country with a great tradition in this sport like ours but for twenty years is in a free fall that seems not to have never end. For the first time since the Soviet Union dissolved, Russia won the men's ice hockey tournament. In 1992 in fact the former Soviet republics still competed almost all together under the banner of the Community of Independent States, this time the Russians, as everyone knows, competed as Olympic athletes of Russia, but in fact, although not officially, is the their first post-USSR triumph. In a thrilling final they beat Germany for 4-3 overtime, who had won a medal in this tournament winning two bronzes in 1932 and in 1976 for the western part. Russians took the lead at the end of the first half and resumed about halfway through the second, again ahead at 6'39 "from the end of the game and again regained ten seconds later. A 3'16 "from the end Jonas Müller took the lead and made Germany dream of a miracle on the ice similar to the Miracle on Ice of the United States in 1980 but at 56 seconds from the end Nikita Gusev equalized incredibly with her team that has a man in less. It goes to the overtime and at 9'40 "Kirill Kaprizov takes advantage of the extra man and closes the match in favor of Russia.
