Matteo Eydallin and Michele Boscacci, on the snow on the border of Alpago and Piancavallo, this morning won the 38th edition of the Transcavallo. An epic edition that of the Transcavallo Long Distance Team 7.0 to highlight the 7,000 meters of total altitude difference with the seven peaks reached located between Veneto and Friuli.
The Transcavallo 2021 that awarded points for the Grande Course was a journey, an exciting and tiring journey that will remain in the memories of the competitors. Immediately after the start given in Malga Cate (Chies d’Alpago) Matteo Eydallin and Michele Boscacci took command of the race and by climbing towards Mount Guslon they showed all their opponents their intentions to win the final success; the two held the first position for the entire course of the race.
In the spectacular ascent of the Canalino del Podestà the two leaders set the pace for the conquest of Monte Guslon. In the snows of Piancavallo, on the other hand, they managed the advantage while also admiring the panorama that stretched from the Dolomites to the Adriatic Sea, Eydallin-Boscacci stopped the clock in 3: 36'51 '', while behind them they classified with the time of 3: 46'19 '' William Boffelli and Jakob Herrmann. Third place went to Julien Michelon and Yoann Sert.
In the women's field Bianca Balzarini and Corinna Ghirardi won the Transcavallo with a time of 4: 51'58 ''; behind them Cecilia De Filippo and Martina De Silvestro. In third position were placed Federica Osler with Dimitra Theocharis. Unfortunately, this edition was characterized by anti-Covid principals: precisely for this reason and to demonstrate once again the resilience of the "mountain people", the Organizing Committee, chaired by Diego Svalduz, wanted to design a track where strength, technique and fatigue resistance have been put to the test. Val Salatis, Monte Guslon, Monte Cornor, Monte Tremol, aerial ridges, steep canals and acrobatic descents, were the main ingredients of a race from the past. The route designed was long, very long, the kilometers traveled were about thirty-two, never trivial, with a positive difference in height of 3,520 meters, spread on the ascent of seven peaks, some of which were tackled on foot, with crampons shod. and with skis in the backpack.
In the individual competition, the very strong Austrian athlete Paul Verbnjack wins with a time of 1: 30'08 '', in second position Claudio Muller is classified while in third is Peter Leiter. In the women's field triumph for the Austrian Stephanie Kroll, with a time of 1: 47’22 ’’. In second and third position were classified Erica Turi and Claudia Titolo.
On Friday evening, the organizers, to accompany the Transcavallo, wanted to bring the traditional torchlight procession back to the snow of Guslon which a few years ago was a real party that anticipated the sporting event. A particular "ceremony" with a single person who lit the other torches arranged in the shape of a heart right on the slopes of Mount Guslon.
