Tricolors of ski mountaineering in the heart of Paganella: Sunday 8 January the Vertical races

The Italian specialty championships are back in Trentino after last year's success: the program and the awaited blue stars are the protagonists.

The Paganella ski area confirms its sporting versatility: for the second consecutive year it will host the Italian ski mountaineering championships. The FISI has in fact assigned the organization of the tricolor appointment of the vertical discipline for all categories to the Brenta Team Sci Club and, following last year's success, the choice of venue fell on the tracks of the Trentino area. The date to be marked in red is Sunday 8 January, when all the strongest athletes in Italy will land on the Fai side, from the most awaited challenges reserved for seniors to the under 23s, under 20s, up to the promotional test under 12 and under 14, for a total of over 120 members, with scheduled departures throughout the afternoon. The added value of this event, compared to many appointments of the Italian ski mountaineering championship, is represented by the proximity to the ski lifts, which allow us to guarantee greater services from an organizational point of view and the possibility for enthusiasts and the curious to climb follow the event live. All the specialists of the only ascent races are therefore expected next Sunday, starting with the athletes who distinguished themselves in the first stages of the World Cup and who had won last year's challenge right on the Paganella. First of all the outgoing Italian champion Michele Boscacci, holder of the crystal ball, then the expert Robert Antonioli, the home ski mountaineer Federico Nicolini, who two years ago won the Italian stage of the World Cup in the specialty, but also the vermilion Davide Magnini, who has found his fitness again at the start of the season. Then the various Andrea Prandi, Nicolò Ernesto Canclini, Matteo Sostizzo, Nadir Maguet and many interesting young people. In the women's field, all eyes are on Giulia Murada, Ilaria Veronese, Alba De Silvestro, Lisa Moreschini and Elena Nicolini from Trento, Katia Mascherona and Giulia Compagnoni. Compared to past editions, the race route will develop on the Fai della Paganella slope, using the Santel chairlift to climb up to the Meriz refuge. From the parterre of the Rolly Marchi track, in fact, the start of the most awaited race is scheduled, reserved for seniors, while the start of the other categories on the basis of age is scheduled at a higher altitude, with the same finish for all positioned at the top of the Paganella, at the altitude of 2,125 meters. The detailed program provides for the start of the under 12 and under 14 men's and women's promotional challenges at 2.00 pm, near the Nuvola rossa slope at 1,800 metres, then at 2.15 pm in the same place the start of the under 16 races. In Malga Fai, at an altitude of 1,670 metres, the under 18 race will start at 14.20, and the under 20 races for men and women at 14.35. The last to compete will be the senior athletes and the men's and women's masters, with the starting gate opening at 2.45 pm in Meriz. When the races are over, athletes, technicians and fans will go down to Andalo, where the award ceremony for all categories is scheduled at 17.00 in Piazza Dolomiti. Being a FISI competition, the registration procedure follows the channels of federal procedures, for all the information just visit the website www.paganella.net.
