The Services Conference approved the construction project of the Tires cable car that would connect San Cipriano with Malga Frommer, in the Carezza Dolomites area.
The project includes a 60-seater gondola lift that would cover a 3.8 km route for a difference in height of 644 meters in just 7 minutes.
In periods of lower turnout, the system would be in operation only when necessary, with the possibility of circulating even without cabin crew. The considerable elevation of the line increases the attractiveness of the system, so much so that there could be a hypothesis for the construction of a "convertible" cable car, an option that would make the panoramic component even more attractive.
The architect Werner Tscholl presented a project for the valley and mountain station based on the desire for a delicate insertion into the enchanting landscape of the Catinaccio. The stations, in fact, disappear under the meadows, leaving only the entry and exit points visible.
The investment amounts to about 15 million euros, but the final financing plan is still being drafted.
The plant is part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting ecologically sustainable mobility at the foot of the Catinaccio massif.
"The Tires cable car - explains Florian Eisath, former Alpine Ski World Cup athlete and CEO of Carezza Dolomites - serving as the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Catinaccio, in the Dolomites, connects to the König Laurin cable car, under construction, and to the Nova Levante cable car. In addition to directly connecting with the ski area, in the summer months this cableway system also allows you to include Nova Levante and, in particular, the Tschein chairlift for Malga Moser, from which you can then reach Lake Caress".
"Our vision is to make the plateau below the Catinaccio area as car-free as possible. In fact, we imagine that in the future it will be possible to move in an ecological way, on foot, by bicycle or by train, to Lake Carezza and back ”concludes Florian Eisath.
