Garessio 2000, Luca Olivero: The next goal is the reopening of the chairlift

After three years of closure, Garessio 2000 reopened the plants this season, on December 30th, thanks to Luca Olivero, President of the 2010 Frais, who took over the Piedmontese station on the proposal of the municipal administration and the mountain union.

In what conditions was Garessio 2000 when he took control of the situation? Nothing worked anymore. At Garessio 2000, a station with 40 km of ski slopes, there are four facilities. Between these two skilifts, Giassetti and Praietto, of which we managed to make the general overhaul and put them into operation. We did not have the time to do the necessary checks to open the chairlift and the other ski lift. Having signed the management contract in early December, there was no possibility of doing great jobs. How was the season? The season has been complex, even though it has actually been a difficult season in all of Piedmont because we only had good weather on the weekend of January 28th and at Easter. The rest of the weekends was bad weather. It is not easy to start again after 3 years of closure, someone does not even know that the station is open. But anyway there are some decent prospects. What days were the plants open? The plants have been open since December 30 at the Epiphany and then every weekend, Wednesday and Carnival week. With only two ski lifts in operation, it was possible to ski on 10 km of ski slopes with a daily skipass which cost 10 euros. Have you organized any activities for the children? Yes, we reactivated the ski school. A ski instructor was present throughout the season and other teachers came when they were free from other commitments. We took a ski course for the children of the area on Wednesday afternoons that had a good participation. They were about 80 children. What plans do you have for next season? There will be a children's treadmill for the school camp. The plants are public, so we hope that the Municipality of Garessio will receive funds from the Region to restore the chairlift that is the main plant of the station. Will this station be open or closed this summer? Will be closed. The only intervention that can be done is the opening of a bike park, but without the working chairlift it is not possible.

Argentera

Argentera
