Accident in Sila. Alessandro Marcelli, manager of the Lorica facilities, dies while carrying out routine checks on the cableway.

This morning the 60-year-old engineer Alessandro Marcelli, head of the lifts in Lorica, a ski resort in Calabria, died. The man, before the opening of the lifts, was downstream to carry out checks on the cable car, when he was hit by a cabin and slipped violently hitting his head.
The plant had been operated for routine checks. Rescue on the spot was useless, Alessandro Marcelli died immediately after arriving at the hospital.
Following the accident, the ski lift was immediately stopped and the firefighters evacuated six workers who were inside two cabins between pylons 2 and 6 suspended a few tens of meters above the ground. .
At the moment the ski lift is closed to allow the police to carry out the surveys and reconstruct the incident.
Alessandro Marcelli, in addition to being the operating director of the Lorica and Camigliatello ski lifts, was director of the infrastructures and assets of the Ferrovie della Calabria.
