The new 10-seater gondola lift will replace the old existing 6-seater gondola.

For the 2020/2021 winter season, in the Plan de Corones ski area of the Dolomiti Superski carousel, on the Valdaora side, the new "Olang 1 + 2" cableway will start operating.
The new 10-seater plant, which will replace the old 6-seater gondola lift, will be able to transport up to 3,900 passengers per hour with a speed of 6.5 m / s. For the construction, Plan de Corones relied on the company Doppelmayr Italia Srl, world market leader in the cableway sector.
The three stations will also be renewed: the downstream station, the intermediate station and the upstream station. | The design competition was won by the architecture firm Schlotthauer Matthiessen Architecturemade. With the particular transparent wave-shaped roofs, the German architects brought some of their Hamburg into the South Tyrolean mountains.
The bases of the three stations and the massive pillars that support the loads of systems and roofing will be made of black concrete, which is contrasted by the light concrete and the white sheet metal of the facades and access levels. The interiors of the entrances will be entirely carried out in shades of light gray and silver, so as to be perceived as a unique environment.
The flexibility of the solution identified will allow to give an adequate response to the various needs of existing stations which, after the intervention, will not only manage to almost double the flow rate, but will also significantly improve passenger comfort. For example, the new external envelope of the valley station, in addition to including the entrance area from the road and the open space in front of the ramp of the underground parking, will enhance the information area and checkouts and create new office spaces accessible from the inside. In the mountain station, however, a new lift will allow users to directly access the Kron restaurant.
The new "Olang 1 + 2" gondola lift will be the ski lift with the highest transport capacity on the Plan de Corones.
