The district offers an interesting mix of groomed trails of varying difficulty, great slopes in open spaces and thrilling descents through the trees. From beginner to expert, everyone finds in San Domenico the perfect slope to express their desire for sport and nature!

The ski area is spread over a height of more than 1,100m from the 1,420m of the town of San Domenico up to 2,500m of the Dosso crossing the sunny and cozy Alpe Ciamporino basin at 1,936m.
Usually the opening is guaranteed from the beginning of December to the beginning of May thanks to a natural snow-making of the highest quality that is unmatched throughout Ossola and which is probably among the best in the whole of the Alps.
Alpine skiing
36 km of slopes, professionally prepared, served by 7 lifts are available to skiers.
The easy and wide slopes of Alpe Ciamporino await beginners to allow them to get close to skiing or perfect their technique in complete tranquility, also taking advantage of the professionalism and friendliness of the teachers of the San Domenico Ski School. Tracks like the "Salarioli" and the "Campo Scuola" have in fact gentle slopes around 10-12% and amplitude of the beaten track that in some points exceeds 150m: ideal characteristics for a learning and a guaranteed improvement! And the treadmills in the school camp guarantee everyone the chance to enjoy the first glides on skis or on the table in complete tranquility!
The most challenging and technical slopes of Passo Sella and Dosso are instead dedicated to the most demanding skiers and athletes of competitive teams. The slopes reached and the degree of technical difficulty of these slopes are in fact such as to have allowed San Domenico to obtain approval from the international FIS ski committee for the organization of international competitions (FIS) of fast disciplines (Free and Super Descent) G): recognition that only San Domenico has throughout the Ossola! Tracks like "La Sella", "Diei", "Valletta" and the variants "Bondolero 1, 2 and 3" offer technical walls with gradients of up to 55%, quick changes in direction, compressions and decompressions that can even test the most advanced skier's hold!
Finally, do not forget the emotions that the "Intermedia" and "Casa Rossa" are able to offer: an exciting descent from the Alpe Ciamporino to the village of San Domenico where there are wide walls, passages in the woods and stretches on narrow streets: a must for every skier who chooses the San Domenico Ski area!
Snowboard / Snowpark / babypark
Snowboarding in San Domenico boasts a long and established tradition that has its roots in the dawn of the discipline. The snowy slopes of San Domenico, especially those softly whitened and uncontaminated outside the beaten tracks, have been a destination for many enthusiasts for decades.
For beginners, the Ski School offers specialized snowboard instructors to learn the best technique in the best and safest way.
The offer is then completed with a snowpark, the Sando Snowpark always updated with new equipment: the place where you can experience acrobatic evolutions and jumps in a specially dedicated area bordered at the foot of the massif "Salarioli" that with its grandeur gives a breathtaking environment.
For families, there is the Baby Park San Domenico Ski service, aimed at parents who want to enjoy the day on the snow, leaving their children in custody to our qualified staff. Reservation of the service is mandatory, at least the day before by 18:00.
Mountain all year round: the Alpe Veglia Devero Nature Park
Even in summer, the destination is worth more than a visit: San Domenico is surrounded by a large natural park that includes two mountain basins located, the one, Alpe Veglia, on the Lepontine Alps at the head of the Val Cairasca, on the border with Switzerland , the other, Alpe Devero, in Val d'Ossola, also in northern Piedmont. A sweet and austere alpine environment: sweet in the high-altitude and austere rolling meadows in the severity of the great mountains and in the immense windblown windjacks.
The most suitable period corresponds to the summer season, although there is the possibility to practice alpine and cross-country skiing at Alpe Devero. The winter access to the Alpe Veglia, on the other hand, can only be done with skis, but the constant danger of avalanches makes it accessible only to expert skiers, trained and, preferably, accompanied by a guide.
In the summer, more than sixty itineraries allow you to explore the park without retracing your steps, even if the enchantment of places and the rush of nature make each visit ever new.
The Alpe Veglia Devero Nature Park is an area full of mountain streams and lakes and some of these are real naturalist gems to visit and contemplate; without dwelling on the lake of Devero or Codelago, now a classic destination for excursions in the park, it is worth mentioning the Lago d'Avino and the Lago del Bianco in Alpe Veglia and the Pojala Lake just outside the borders of the Alpe Devero.
Of rock climbing centers, in Alpe Veglia two have been equipped: in the locality of La Balma with 11 routes (single pitch), maximum difficulty 5c + suitable for beginners; in the locality the Larecc, along the path to the White Lake, with 8 streets (single-pitch) maximum difficulty 6c.
In Alpe Devero we find one in the conservation area, near the parking lot (reachable in 10 minutes on foot, southbound). The gym is limestone, perfectly equipped with resinated taps and offers 10 single pitches, with climbing mainly overhang, the maximum difficulty is 6c.
To make the most of all these services and live up to the mountain's energy, those who stay at least 3 nights in half-board at the Hotel La Vetta, receive the "Gourmet, Ski and fun" package which includes:
