Season openings is scheduled for the end of September at the Stubai Glacier and this year the season 2012/2013 will start in the sign of important innovations. With an investment of 12 million euros the resort of Tyrol, in addition to the replacement of an existing plant, will allow skiers to explore a new area over 3000 m. The new area will be mainly dedicated to freeride, but will also offer a new black slope with a maximum gradient of 60%.

The old four-seater chairlift Rotadl will be replaced with a 8-seater chairlift with upholstered seats, heated and eye protection. The new facility, starting near the station Gamsgarten, in just 5 minutes will cover 1,355 meters and will carry up to 3,000 passengers per hour in Daunferner, one of the largest and most frequented by families of the Stubai Glacier ski area.
The 4-seater chairlift Daunjoch, however, is designed to expand the boundaries of the ski slopes. 1197 meters long, the plant will bring skiers and freeriders to 3,000 meters high, to embark on the new Run Black Down Hill, a black trail of 3.2 km with a gradient of 60% down on the slopes of Daunjoch and ending downstream station Mutterberg.
The chairlift Rotadl go live in mid-October, while the opening of one of Daunjoch is scheduled for the end of November.
