Leandro Pession, skipper of Valtournenche overwhelmed by an avalanche, didn't make it

On Monday the accident near the Grand Sommettaz ski lift, yesterday the 58-year-old died at the Parini hospital in Aosta.

Leandro Pession did not make it, rescue worker on the slopes for Cervino SpA, overwhelmed a couple of days ago by an avalanche in Valtournenche, to be precise near the Grand Sommettaz ski lift, at over 3000 meters above sea level. The 58-year-old died yesterday, as ANSA reports: Pession was carrying out the usual checks on the track and remained several minutes under the snow. The mountain rescue officers and 118 intervened on the spot, but conditions were already desperate once we arrived at the Umberto Parini hospital in Aosta by helicopter.
