Artesina is located in Val Maudagna, in the municipality of Frabosa Sottana, at the foot of Monte Mondolè. The resort is surrounded by the sweeping panoramas of the Ligurian Alps and extends from the village, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,300 metres, up to the 2,085-metre summit of Turra, a spectacular natural balcony overlooking the mountains of the Cuneo area.
The Artesina ski area includes around 60 km of alpine ski runs, with a mix of blue, red and black pistes. The Artesina 1300 and Colletto areas offer gentler, more accessible slopes, suitable for families and less experienced skiers, while higher up towards Turra, Cima Durand and the slopes of Mondolè there are longer, more technical and scenic runs. The variety of pistes makes Artesina particularly appealing to intermediate and advanced skiers, without overlooking those taking their first steps on snow.
The resort’s main new feature is the La Turra six-seater detachable chairlift, which entered service in December 2025, replacing the two previous surface lifts. The modern lift starts at an altitude of 1,740 metres and reaches 2,085 metres in about five minutes, serving the Panoramica, Centrale, Ellero and Race runs, as well as the connection towards Durand and Canalone. The lift network also includes the Mirafiori, Rocche Giardina and Mondolè chairlifts, the Cima Durand surface lift and the magic carpets in the areas dedicated to beginners. The lifts are not all from the same generation, but the opening of the new Turra lift has sped up access and made the main high-altitude sector considerably more comfortable.
Artesina is connected ski-in/ski-out to Prato Nevoso and, together with Prato Nevoso and Frabosa Soprana, forms part of Mondolè Ski. The complete ski area officially boasts more than 130 km of downhill runs: starting from Artesina, skiers can therefore reach the sunnier Conca di Prato Nevoso, continuing to ski among pistes, snowparks, mountain huts and family areas. When all the connections are open, the shared ski pass also allows visitors to explore the Frabosa Soprana sector.
The connection mainly expands the options for families and intermediate skiers, who can alternate Artesina’s more varied runs with Prato Nevoso’s broad slopes. However, anyone wishing to complete the entire circuit should check in advance that the connecting routes are open, as well as the departure times of the last lifts needed for the return journey.
Artesina is also known to more technical skiers: its slopes have hosted training sessions for athletes and national teams, including Cuneo-born champion Marta Bassino. The slopes of Mondolè also offer numerous freeride and ski-touring opportunities, but off-piste routes require experience, avalanche safety equipment and careful assessment of snow conditions.
For children, there is the ski school area at Artesina 1400, served by magic carpets, as well as Bosco delle Fate and Pinky Park, with games, snow tubes, sledges and entertainment. A second access point to the ski area is located at Rastello, in the municipality of Roccaforte Mondovì, from where a chairlift provides access to the Pian della Turra sector.
In summer, Artesina offers hiking trails, mountain-bike routes, a Bike Park, summer tubing and its distinctive summer bobsleigh. The resort is also a good starting point for excursions to Monte Mondolè and the other peaks of the Ligurian Alps.
