The management of the ski resorts therefore takes the English road. Giovanni Brasso and Alessandro Perron Cabus with their respective families should sell their shares to the British private equity fund Icon Infrastructure for a sum that, according to rumors published by Repubblica.it, could be between 100 and 110 million euros.
The 2 shareholders took over the company in the year of the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics from the Agnelli for 30 million, at the time when the Fiat group decided to cut many of its real estate investments.
The British group could therefore achieve what in 15 years, that is, since other shareholders took over from the Agnelli, no other potential interested (many have come forward without success in this period) has managed to do: that is to acquire the control package di Sestrieres Spa, i.e. the private company that manages the ski lifts and slopes of Sestriere and its surroundings.
Secondly, the industrial project is very ambitious. According to Il Sole 24 Ore, the Icon Infrastructure plan provides for the purchase not only of the management of the ski facilities, but also of the hotels and shelters. In short, it would be an offer on two levels: both for plant management and for real estate.
Icon Infrastructure may want to replicate the model of some American ski resorts, such as Vail in Colorado, or Calgary in Canada.
