Carezza ready to celebrate the tenth edition of the parallel giant: appointment on December 17, 2020

The South Tyrolean town is preparing for the traditional stage of the Snowboard World Cup. With many news also related to the Covid situation.

One of the many preliminary meetings took place in recent days, just under three months from the great appointment that Carezza will host on 17 December, when the tenth edition of a snowboard World Cup race will be celebrated on the "Pra di Tori" . One year after the cancellation of the parallel giant, which was interrupted and canceled last December due to the very high temperatures that had reduced the track to critical conditions, the South Tyrolean location is ready to host the maximum circuit. Race director Uwe Beier underlined the enthusiasm that reigns in Carezza, at the traditional autumn meeting in which his assistant Peter Krogoll and the whole organizing committee also took part. During this meeting all the participants touched on some topics that could make the races in Carezza even more attractive: in this regard, the organizers have given great importance to television production, so that this year the video images, broadcast all over the world. , can be even more spectacular. The meeting also covered Covid-19, a very delicate topic in 2020. "We have a lot of extra work to do, such as setting up a Covid test station on the day of arrival of the delegations and a more great for athletes and carers, where they can warm up between the individual heats. We will hold the captains' meeting at the House of Culture, so we will have more space. Instead, we will reduce our program of side events to the essentials, which gave the races a familiar character ”, reveals Andreas Obkircher three months after the competitions, or the double PGS for men and women. The tenth edition of the race must become special despite the current situation. “Of course we would have liked to be able to carry out the anniversary edition under normal conditions, but this is something we cannot change and we try to make the best of it, like our South Tyrolean colleagues from the other winter sports World Cups. We are in close contact with each other and we will do everything possible to make the races happen, as the organizers in Val Gardena, Dobbiaco and San Candido will do for example. Races are not only indispensable for South Tyrol as a tourist destination, but also our small local economic cycles benefit immensely from the World Cup ”, the analysis of Obkircher. The reigning champions on the Pra di Tori slope are the Slovenian Tim Mastnak and the South Tyrolean Nadya Ochner, who achieved her only success in CdM in 2018 in Carezza.
