The KW Fall Classic has begun in Waterloo, in the heart of Ontario: all three men’s teams from the Italian movement are on the ice, with the opening day bringing each of them one victory.

There is also a strong Italian presence in the men’s tournament at the Hogged Rock KW Fall Classic, the third international event of the 2026/27 season and the first to launch the Canadian campaign.

On the ice in Waterloo, following Baden and Stirling, Team Spiller features twins Cesare and Stefano alongside Amos Mosaner and Sebastiano Arman. The Trentino team opened with a 6-2 defeat to Kim Schwaller and his teammates, before immediately bouncing back with a convincing 8-2 win over the Canadians of Team Mulima.

Today they face Chandler, before closing out the first phase on Sunday (the finals then follow immediately, starting with the quarter-finals, with the event scheduled to conclude on Monday, September 7) against Camm.

It was also one win and one loss for the team led by Joel Retornaz, featuring Alberto Pimpini, Andrea Gilli and Stefano Gilli: they opened with a 4-2 defeat against the home side, Team King, before celebrating a 9-5 Italian victory over fellow Canadians Team Steele. They now face Hocevar, followed by Lamb, as they look to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Team Dolomiti Zisa (made up of Alberto Zisa, Giacomo Colli, Francesco Vigliani, Francesco De Zanna and Mattia Giovanella), after suffering a 7-2 defeat against an experienced team led by Brendan Bottcher, dominated the matchup with Desjardins’ Scottish side, winning 11-1. Today, the Cortina-based team returns to the ice against McDonald, before concluding the opening phase against Mooibroek.
