The return of the Snowboard Cross World Cup in Breuil-Cervinia: "So much enthusiasm after 2 years"

On 17-18 December, Moioli & Co. will face the third stage on the Aosta Valley snow, after the triumphs of 2019. Word to Monica Meynet, president of the organizing committee.

Jumps, overtakes and breathtaking passages for two days of pure adrenaline. After a season of forced absence, Breuil-Cervinia eagerly awaits the Snowboard Cross World Cup, which will return for the fourth time to the Valle d'Aosta snow. On 17 and 18 December 2021, the world circuit will make a stop in the locality that in recent years has carved out an important space on the international scene, giving fans a great show. It is the edition of the restart and a gradual return to normality, which immediately requires a greater organizational effort from the Cervinia World Cup staff, committed to implementing all the necessary protocols so that races can be held as beautiful as they are safe for the '' entire circuit and the spectators. This is the biggest challenge, welcomed with great enthusiasm by the organizers who strongly believe in sporting events of the highest level, especially those related to snowboarding which - given in hand - are very popular in the United States and Canada, markets on which points the entire valley. You compete on the "track 26" of Breuil-Cervinia which has now found its size and does not present substantial changes compared to the past. The majestic Matterhorn will be the setting for a track that has always highlighted the technical qualities of the Italian national team, now at home in Breuil-Cervinia for most of the autumn and winter training sessions and dominant in the December 2019 appointment with Michela Moioli ( and Sofia Belingheri) and Lorenzo Sommariva. Breuil-Cervinia will be the third stage of the 2021/2022 World Cup, which will begin at the end of the month at Secret Garden, on the slopes that will host the Olympic Games in February. Qualifying will take place on Friday 17th December, and on Saturday 18th the women's and men's races. Athletes and technicians will arrive in Valle d'Aosta already at the beginning of the week; from Tuesday 14 it will be possible to try the route. Monica Meynet, Cervinia World Cup president: “After the cancellation of last year we are happy to be able to organize this event which represents an international showcase for the whole Valtournenche. Thanks to these competitions we have the opportunity to show worldwide a location that is already in full swing and with a winter panorama. We leave, aware of the organizational difficulties and the anti-Covid measures that we will have to adopt. Everything becomes even more complicated, but we want to start over, convinced that these events are an important business card for the valley and for the entire tourism sector of the Aosta Valley ”. The Breuil-Cervinia snowboard cross World Cup is organized by Cervinia World Cup, in close collaboration with the sports club We Snowboard Cervinia and Cervino Spa and with the precious contribution of the Municipality of Valtournenche and the Autonomous Region of the Valle d '' Aosta.
