There will not be the highly anticipated appointment with world snowboard cross in the Upper Town. "We will compete on the same dates (23-24 January), but we are convinced that next year there will be the conditions to compete in Bergamo", the words of Franco Vismara after the announcement.

The Snowboard Cross World Cup is living with constant cancellations and transfers, so much so that the season will only begin in mid-January on the snows of Montafon, Austria.
A little over a month after the first Italian stage, the one scheduled in Bergamo on 23-24 January 2021 and already confirmed in recent weeks, here is the surprise: the sprint race (individual and team) will not be held in the Upper Town, for a historic first at Michela Moioli's house, but will move to Valmalenco on the same dates. With the aim of making it for the 2021/22 season, as explained by Franco Vismara himself, president of the Ski Club FAB Snow Eagle and CEO of the Valmalenco Bernina Ski Resort, as well as promoter of the Bergamo stage together with the blue dt Cesare Pisoni and the same Olympic champion.
“We are really very sorry - the words of the lawyer. Vismara - because we have always believed so much in the project, but we are sure that next year there will be all the conditions for a spectacular race on the first city track in Italy. However, we are honored to be able to host the competition “at home”, in the splendid setting of Valmalenco, where among other things we have already organized numerous national and international competitions. From an organizational point of view, it will certainly be easier for us to guarantee the high standards that we had set ourselves from the beginning ".
The race was postponed due to problems, never hidden, of a different nature. First of all, the unknowns related to the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, with experts predicting a possible third wave of the infection in the weeks of the Bergamo competition. Secondly, a series of difficulties in finding sponsorships, in such a delicate and difficult period for the world economy. Finally, the will of the organizers to compete in such a fascinating snowboard competition with the public in attendance, which is currently not possible due to the persistence of the limitations for the fight against the coronavirus in our country. “I am very sorry - comments Michela Moioli - I had trained a lot on the start section, since it would have been essential on a short track like the one planned in Bergamo. Too bad, we hope that we can try again next year, perhaps with the public: it would certainly be more beautiful and exciting.
Considering, then, that the next will also be an Olympic year, I think there is one more reason to try to organize the stage in my city ”.
