Samkova's injury and Michi Moioli's champion words: "Come back soon, Eva"

The victory in the team race in Montafon, paired with Lorenzo Sommariva, was bittersweet at the end of a weekend that had already seen Omar Visintin knock out. The Bergamo-born is projected towards Cervinia, but the first thought is for the great rival who risks a long stop.

It was a very special second stage of the Snowboard Cross World Cup for Michela Moioli, yesterday and today in Montafon. On the Austrian snow, yesterday the Olympic champion experienced the disappointment of the elimination in the quarter-finals, only partially canceled by the success in the team competition, which we will also see at the next Beijing Olympics, obtained in tandem with Lorenzo Sommariva, with whom the Bergamo champion had already won silver at the last world championships. Moioli's thoughts, in fact, are turned to the two luxury injuries of this weekend: yesterday Omar Visintin, forced to stop for a few weeks after having suffered a dislocated right elbow and a head injury, today for the eternal rival by Michela, the Czech Eva Samkova who risks having closed her season prematurely, falling after the finish line in the team trial that had seen her finish just behind the blue, giving a great 2nd place to her Czech Republic (paired with Kubicik). "Today Lorenzo Sommariva and I managed to win the team event and we have to say thanks to our skimans who put bombs under our feet, as well as all the support work of the team - the comment of the three-time World Cup winner - But I don't feel like I want to celebrate: unfortunately there have been several crashes and injuries on this track, one of which concerns Omar Visintin, who fortunately will be back with us soon. Even worse happened today: Eva Samkova, my greatest opponent ever, for whom I have deep respect and esteem, in the final after recovering from fourth to second position, fell after the finish and injured her ankles. Dear Eva, to say that I am sorry is an understatement. I can't even find the words ... I hug you and I wish you to recover quickly and to see you as soon as possible back at the gate ready to fight! We know this is our sport too, but when a champion or a champion gets hit hard, it's always something dramatic. Good luck".
