Snowboard cross: the South Tyrolean, who had started the season very well with 2nd place on the Olympic slope, today fell in the quarters of Montafon and it will only be decided in the next few days whether to have surgery or not. We will see it again in 2022, with a Beijing target.

A very bitter day for Omar Visintin and the Italian national team in Montafon, home of the second stage of the circuit (which will end on Saturday with the team test): on Friday, the South Tyrolean champion had signed the best time in qualifying, then today he had easily overtaken the round of the round of 16, up to the fatal crash in heat 1 of the quarterfinals. The blow suffered caused a head injury and especially the dislocation of the right elbow.
Omar will be re-evaluated in the coming days by the FISI Medical Commission and it will be decided, in consultation with the athlete, whether to opt for surgery or not, aiming in the second case for conservative therapy. We will certainly not see Visintin in the first Italian appointment, Saturday 18 December in Cervinia, with the aim of returning in January 2022 and being able to prepare in the best possible condition for the great five-circle goal.
Even if now the road, for one of the leaders of the blue snowboard cross squadron, is definitely uphill.
