The "Milano-Cortina 2026" women's national biathlon group, to which Lukas Hofer was added for the occasion, was a guest in the Lecco headquarters of Fiocchi Munizioni, one of the most important and ancient Italian companies that produce cartridges and small caliber ammunition, alongside the blue team and the FISI for many years.
The group headed by Klaus Hoellrigl spent a whole day in the company, meeting the workers and discovering how the ammunition of the Fiocchi Biathlon line is made: Exacta Winter, Official Winter and TT Winter. In addition to Hofer, there were also Lisa Vittozzi, Michela Carrara, Rebecca Passler, Hannah Auchentaller, Beatrice Trabucchi, Irene Lardschneider, Eleonora Fauner and Linda Zingerle, who traveled through the offices and production plants and experienced first hand the ammunition production cycle. they use in competition and in training. Meanwhile, there is good news for the entire movement also in terms of sports facilities. The Department for Sport, in fact, has admitted the project of the Federal Center of Carnia Arena in Forni Avoltri among those that will be able to benefit from the funds allocated by the PNRR. This is the project for which the FISI had expressed its interest, for the centrality that the facility may have for the growth and development of the Nordic disciplines (cross-country, biathlon, jumping, combined Nordic and roller skis) and for the benefit of the national major, such as youth teams, to the Committee teams and up to the Ski Clubs and foreign national teams.
A facility that will therefore be regenerated and completed in the works and structures to become a modern point of reference for Nordic sports in Carnia. In particular, the intervention will concern: a new indoor shooting range with 15 compressed air shooting lines; new firing lines, 4 of which indoors, for the 22 gauge; new stands for the public; new spaces for equipment rental, ski school and ticket sales; a school camp for biathlon, Nordic skiing, jumping and combined; the improvement of the current route for roller skis and its lengthening; the construction of new parking spaces for athletes and the public.
The Federal Center is located in Piani di Luzza and has been recognized in the qualification by the FISI since 2017. It has been hosting regional, national and international competitions for years, and will host the 2023 EYOFs.
