A "new" Lisa Vittozzi at Poligono 360: "I worked on shooting and on my mind, I'm ready and serene"

A “new” Lisa Vittozzi, more serene and aware after a really complicated season like the previous one. Ever closer to the start of Kontiolahti, the 25-year-old Sappadina presents herself as one of the spearheads of a biathlon national team that will count on her and on the two-time World Cup winner and bi-world champion Dorothea Wierer, to dream again a vintage of the highest level in Italy. Vittozzi spoke about it in depth at “Poligono 360”, the usual weekly Eurosport event hosted by Dario Puppo and Massimiliano Ambesi, who “questioned” Lisa on a thousand topics, starting from the long preparation started in the post lockdown. “I am very happy with the past summer, as confirmed by various data and references such as the home matches, not being able to participate in the summer ones. The level in the team is always high, with Doro we are close and this gives me confidence. I have worked a lot on the mental level, I am happy with what I have done also from this point of view and I must say that I would never have thought, years ago, of putting myself on the line. I relied only on talent, but to get to the highest levels you have to file a lot and go to the bottom ”. The approach to the 2020/21 World Cup by the vice world champion with the relay in Anterselva 2020 will be very different compared to 12 months ago. “I didn't think I could have this awareness and serenity, I'm really calm because I got to the point of telling myself that I couldn't have done more in terms of commitment and quality work, but also of proper recovery and rest. The results will be a consequence, but I am also happy with the calendar that immediately proposes races in Kontiolahti and Hochfilzen, places where I have often done well ”. And then the Pokljuka World Championships, practically at home and on a site that has given her so many joys in the past and the only real satisfying stage in the 2019/2020 vintage. "It's clear, everything will depend on how I'm going to be at the moment, but if everything goes as I think, I'll have fun without too many expectations, unlike what happened last season": Lisa, however, has also changed a lot on the technical level: “It was a very good summer in terms of shooting performance, then usually I go better in the race and I can only be very happy. Yes, we completely revolutionized the situation, changing a lot of things and working in another direction. And again, the mental aspect has given me so much. The target? Staying above 90%, standing and on the ground, I have fired with very high percentages in recent months ". Finally, a hint of the possible rivals of a season that will clearly see Wierer as a reference for all. “I think that Oeberg is also complete and constant to play, different for Herrmann who is to be seen in shooting. Then, of course, if Tiril Eckhoff were to shoot like last year, then she would also be in the fight ”.
