Lisa Vittozzi and Lukas Hofer are two big names in the Italian biathlon to open the 2021 edition of the Italian summer championships, with the first day spent today in Anterselva dedicated to Individual competitions. The sappadina defeated the competition (without Dorothea Wierer), committing only one mistake on her feet and reaching the finish line of the Suedtirol Arena with almost 4 minutes of margin on Samuela Comola, on the podium together with another talented athlete such as Hannah Auchentaller, third despite 4 errors, while Federica Sanfilippo paid for the polygon who ended up in fourth place. At the junior level, the tricolor title went to Gaia Brunetto (one mistake), very young from the CS Army who preceded Linda Zingerle (three mistakes) and Martina Trabucchi (five penalties). The men's race saw another representative of the CS Carabinieri triumph, with Lukas Hofer dominating in front of Patrick Braunhofer, who made only one mistake on the ground as well as the top blue of the movement, and Nicola Romanin who removed the third place and the podium to Tommaso Giacomel. Eighth Dominik Windisch, 14th Didier Bionaz among the most anticipated standard bearers of the national team who will return to the race on Saturday in the Sprint. The Junior Individual rewarded Iacopo Leonesio, an element for some time in the blue round that beat Elia Zeni and David Zingerle.
