The preparation process of the Italian curling teams for the next season starts from Trentino. A first meeting starting on Wednesday 5 August and lasting almost two weeks - scheduled until 16 August - in which the blue technical director, the Danish Ulrik Schmidt, will meet the senior and junior athletes to start planning the next months.
First two days of physical tests in Baselga di Pinè, with the athletes working with the Coni medical staff led by Andrea Cardone at the Ice Rink Pinè; then, from Friday 7 August, training starts at the Palacurling Cembra. "For us it is important to get back on the ice soon because curling is becoming more and more a sport that lives throughout the year and moving forward the schedule by one month compared to the past season is very positive, also because we remain in Italy and not. we must, as in the past, go to Switzerland to find the track ”, explains Schmidt.
In the technical staff present in Trentino, together with the Dane, also the coaches Violetta Caldart, Claudio Pescia and Diana Gaspari. A large number of athletes of national interest will participate in the meeting, divided between Senior and Junior, including the big names. "We will focus on physical training, on learning and improving technical gestures as well as on mental training - adds Schmidt - I strongly believe in psychological training which is a novelty for Italian curling: this aspect will be dealt with by Alessandro Cecilia, a high-level professional who also works for Juventus ”.
Then a consideration on the upcoming season: “The year that awaits us will inevitably be as special as the last months of last year were. There have been cancellations and we do not know what will happen (yesterday the news from the WCF of the cancellation of the Mixed Curling World Championships scheduled in Aberdeen, Scotland, in October, ed) ”. These are the athletes called up in Trentino: Alice Cobelli, Stefania Constantini, Elena Dami, Camilla Gilberti, Angela Romei, Veronica Zappone, Giulia Zardini Lacedelli, Edoardo Alfonsi, Sebastiano Arman, Giacomo Colli, Francesco De Zanna, Daniele Ferrara, Fabrizio Gallo, Mattia Giovanella , Simone Gonin, Amos Mosaner, Davide Moser, Simone Piffer, Alberto Pimpini, Joel Retornaz, Fabio Ribotta, Luca Rizzolli and Alberto Zisa.
