At the end of the first day of the World Team Trophy team competition hosted by the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, the top spot is occupied by Japan and the United States, paired at an altitude of 47 points.

In third place with 34 points is Russia, which precedes by seven points as Canada, pre-race favorite. Definitely more detached France and China, already out of contention for the podium.
During the afternoon, the Japanese have played in the order'' short dance, short program for men and women's short program.
With regard to the individual, there have been few noteworthy performance and many programs are characterized by smears of different scales, but as is usual in season virtually ended.
In the women, the best score was obtained from the Russian Adelina Sotnikova who ruled narrowly the hostess Akiko Suzuki. In the men, the Canadian Patrick Chan, despite a disastrous fall on the quadruple toe loop, preceded by six points the Japanese Daisuke Takahashi, likewise not immune from mistakes on the elements of jump.
In the dance, the first place went to the U.S. advanced Chock / Bates in front of the Canadian Weaver / Poje, clearly outclassed on a technical level.
The competition will continue tomorrow with the short program of the pairs of artistic, free dance and the men's free program.
