Hockey: The NHL will allow Russian players to take part in the competition

After the decision to terminate all relations with the KHL (the Russian hockey league), the North American league will allow Russian players to participate in the draft scheduled between 7 and 8 July.

Important news in the world of hockey: the NHL commisioner, Gary Bettman, has announced that Russian players will be able to continue playing in the teams present in the league. Therefore, the Russians will be able to participate and consequently be chosen in the next Draft, scheduled between 7 and 8 July in Montreal, Canada. However, a decision has not yet been made regarding Russia's participation in the 2026 World Cup, which will be organized by the NHL. The North American league, in the days following the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, had immediately decided to interrupt all relations with the Russian league (KHL); Gary Bettman explained the reason for this decision to allow Russian players to participate in the competition: "We have severed all commercial ties with KHL. I think it's fair to point out that our players play for the NHL and not for Russia, and many of them do not have simple isutations, having their respective families in Russia ".
