The World Cup rankings after the first giant of Kranjska Gora: Marta at -226 from the Slovak on the eve of the second round on Podkoren and no more slalom until March. Everything is wide open.

It is a World Cup to be played, either because we are not even halfway along the road, or because there is a Petra Vlhova who shows so great continuity, but in the giant she still left several points on the road and in speed not has shown, at least so far, that it can collect a lot.
And then the first of the two giants from Kranjska Gora, waiting for the reply on Sunday morning, brought Marta Bassino more and more into the fight, definitely the blue in better condition and, a bit like Goggia downhill, superior to all rivals in a single discipline (3 successes in 4 races and we know what happened in the second giant of Courchevel).
The woman from Cuneo, who has found the red bib in the giant and now leads with 50 points of margin on Federica Brignone and over 100 on the Gisin-Worley-Shiffrin trio (when there are 5 races to go, including Semmering's recovery, which was not still fixed), is fourth overall at 226 points from Vlhova, just over 100 from Gisin and in the fast lane on Shiffrin, now only sixth.
Attention, because the calendar proposes, after another race on the very favorable paper like that of tomorrow, three speed races on a very technical track like that of Crans-Montana, then the giant of Kronplatz on January 26 (adored by Marta) and again downhill and super-g at the end of the month in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, while the slalom which, obviously, favors the three athletes in front of the blue, will return only in March with the last four events.
At the level of WCSL as a giant, Bassino now undermines the first position of Brignone, with the two blue strikers who have a lot of margin on Shiffrin and Vlhova, while Alice Robinson has saved the first subgroup again more for the demerits of others (see Hector and Holtmann) and for a newfound competitiveness on the part of the 19-year-old New Zealander. Goggia, 15th, has a good margin over Mowinckel to defend the second sub-group, increasingly in the 30s (and therefore with the possibility of starting immediately after 15 with the 400 points in the general WCSL) Elena Curtoni, who is doing very well in a discipline that will also be useful in speed.
