Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 December there will be an absolute first in the history of the World Cup: the Saslong of Val Gardena, usually reserved for men, will host two of the three women's races canceled in Val d'Isère.

The FIS turned to the organizers of Val Gardena, who immediately gave their availability. On Thursday the last organizational details have been perfected and the "okay" has been given to the International Ski Federation. On Monday 17 December a timed race will take place, on Tuesday there will be the downhill race and on Wednesday the SuperG will take place. Unknown the fate of the combination that should have taken place in the French resort but after all there were not the days available to recover even this race.
Never in history, we said, women competed on the Saslong, neither at the 1970 World Cup nor in 1975 for a slalom and a parallel, equivalent to the legendary one between Gustav Thöni and Ingemar Stenmark, but always on other tracks. We are really curious to see how the women will manage on a track that is generally considered to be among the least demanding of the men's white circus, but undoubtedly for women it will be a very tough challenge.
