Twelve months later, Stephanie Brunner sees the snow again: first training sessions for the Austrian gigantist

After a triple cruciate injury in her left knee, the 26-year-old Tyrolean has finally put her skis back on. "I'm not thinking about Soelden, but what happiness. And the first answers are very positive".

His last appearance in the World Cup dates back to 8 January 2019, when he took home good points even in Flachau, in a specialty not his own like slalom. Three days later, in training in Pozza di Fassa, his career had stopped again, with a new tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, already injured in March 2018 at the Austrian championships. Well, Stephanie Brunner's ordeal was not over yet, given that Ferragosto of 2019 turned out to be dramatic for the best Austrian talent of recent years between wide doors, with the same knee still knocked out during a training in Ushuaia. More than 12 months have passed, but now the ''94 class of Zillertal has finally been able to caress the snow on the Moelltaler glacier again: they waited a few days before giving the announcement, herself and the Austrian federsci, since around Stephanie has the utmost caution after what happened, truly one of a kind if we think that the crusader has given in three times in the space of 17 months. 9 have passed since the last operation undergone by Dr. Christian Fink who, in the case of a knee in really critical conditions like Brunner's, used a technique that involves the use of the patellar tendon instead of the cruciate itself, such as unveils today's edition of the “Kurier”. In spring, the Tyrolean gigantist also announced the change of materials by joining Atomic; it will hardly be ready for the opening in Soelden, also because this time we want to take all the time necessary to heal, but the first answers are very positive. “I am really happy to finally be able to ski again - said Stephanie on the OESV home website - Twelve months was a very long period of inactivity, but giving myself so much time was the right decision. The first few days on the snow are behind me, my knee reacted very positively and every exercise and workout was painless. In the next few weeks I want to slowly approach my level and allow myself the time necessary to be able to return to the World Cup ”.
