For Asja Zenere, unfortunately it is in a negative sense when, on the other hand, the young woman from Vicenza seemed to be launched towards her first victory in the European Cup and the debut in the World Cup, which would have taken place in the Courchevel giant on Tuesday (she had already been called 4 years ago for the descent of Val d''Isère, but only disputed the tests).
The turning point of the 23-year-old from Enego arrived in the second round of Sunday's giant in Andalo, the second consecutive European Cup on the snows of Paganella, which the previous day had seen Asja finish in third place, again on the podium after the second place obtained in Trysil.
In the lead after the first race, with the prospect of flying well at the top of the specialty rankings among the wide doors, Zenere slipped to the top of the Olimpionica 2 track, immediately feeling something wrong with the knee; the diagnosis is not yet definitive, because the joint is swollen and will still need a few hours for confirmation, but fears of a crusader injury are very high, as confirmed by the athlete from Vicenza herself.
In the best moment of the career, when finally Asja had put in place the famous "pieces of the puzzle" that are used to go really strong in every context (we are talking about a competitive athlete even in super-g and descent), the season seems ruined and regret for the lack of participation in the Courchevel giant, which will see team-mate Valentina Cillara Rossi (third Sunday in Andalo) at the starting gate, are decidedly less than the prospects for the future, including the objective of the place fixed in the World Cup (for which it was decided not to call her for the super-g last Saturday in Sankt Moritz, where her debut would have taken place instead) to be won in a European Cup vintage that was going great .
Those who know it well, however, know that Asja Zenere is a rock ready to leave immediately. Certain that the turning point becomes positive, in its path towards the dream of the World Cup.
