Mikaela Shiffrin got vaccinated in the United States: "Thanks to all those fighting the pandemic"

The announcement of the champion, who returned home a couple of weeks ago: "A step forward compared to normality: we hope to soon have people in the stands to follow us".

The last training sessions in Europe, then after the first days of April, Mikaela Shiffrin returned to the United States and, as she announced a few hours ago on her social channels, she underwent the anti-Covid vaccination. She is the first high-level athlete in the world of skiing who communicated this decision and at the same time the opportunity, which the champion from Eagle had a couple of weeks ago. "When I got vaccinated, I thought about everything we went through in the last 14 months - explained Mikaela - I am still impressed by how it seemed normal to play a whole season of the World Cup and the World Championships regularly, with the tireless work of the FIS, the organizing committees and my own federation. Getting a vaccine means being a step ahead of normalcy: it means being able to travel more easily and also get back, I hope soon, the fans in the stands to follow our sport. Thanks again to all those who are in the front row to fight this pandemic - concluded the three-time winner of the World Cup - For everything you have done and are doing to ensure that we leave this situation behind us as quickly as possible " .
