The last training sessions in Europe, then after the first days of April, Mikaela Shiffrin returned to the United States and, as she announced a few hours ago on her social channels, she underwent the anti-Covid vaccination.
She is the first high-level athlete in the world of skiing who communicated this decision and at the same time the opportunity, which the champion from Eagle had a couple of weeks ago. "When I got vaccinated, I thought about everything we went through in the last 14 months - explained Mikaela - I am still impressed by how it seemed normal to play a whole season of the World Cup and the World Championships regularly, with the tireless work of the FIS, the organizing committees and my own federation.
Getting a vaccine means being a step ahead of normalcy: it means being able to travel more easily and also get back, I hope soon, the fans in the stands to follow our sport. Thanks again to all those who are in the front row to fight this pandemic - concluded the three-time winner of the World Cup - For everything you have done and are doing to ensure that we leave this situation behind us as quickly as possible " .
