Adeline Mugnier has in fact decided to abandon the world of competitive spirit, at just 26 years of age and after having suffered yet another knee injury.
The little Savoyard skier was in fact injured again on 2 January, in training at Obdach, with the injury to the left knee crusader and a new season ended early. The French rider tried in any case to start again towards the next vintage, but she confessed to having understood after only three days of skiing, that she could no longer recover as she would have liked.
"I passed many tests during my career and made many sacrifices, but today, announcing my retirement, I can say that I had the good fortune to live this dream to the very end - explained the athlete of Les Gets in a long message entrusted to the social - Maybe I'm not an Olympic champion, but I have experienced intense moments that are not available to everyone, like participating twice in the Games and finding myself in front in some giant and slalom heats, as well as returning three times from serious knee injuries and fight in the world top 15 â€.
Mugnier leaves with 102 bibs in the World Cup, the 7th place in the Courchevel giant of December 2017 as the best result (and 7 top ten overall between giant and slalom) and above all the world gold won in the Sankt Moritz 2017 event team The last races at Semmering, last December before the umpteenth crash.
"The joys have been many, but also the disappointments like that of the morning of 2 January 2019, when the crusader broke again - explains Adeline - Due to my physical situation I have to turn the page, I tried but after only three days of training the knee made me realize that I was making a mistake. It wasn't the end I was hoping for, but we can't control everything in life. "
