The death of Roland Thoeni left everyone in shock, on Easter day with the farewell of one of the symbols of the Blue Avalanche of those magical '70s. And a teammate who knew the man who won the bronze medal in slalom at the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo, as well as winning the World Cup twice, leaves a sweet memory of him.

Rolando Thoeni, Gustavo's cousin, together on the podium of the Olympic slalom in Sapporo, was an exceptional slalomist, never seen anyone go on the pole like him; cross of the gatekeepers, forced to remount the slalom as it passed. What a show, what a class!
He didn't pick up on how much his immense talent was already writing in the snow, because he fell in love with the descent too soon, smashing himself a thousand times. Goodbye Rolly, goodbye champion, thanks for the emotions you gave me when, as a kid, I dreamed of skiing like you. One day ... one day ... ".
