Bastian Meisen turns 25 today and says enough: surprisingly, the German gigantist retires

In the World Cup also at the end of February in Bansko, he had obtained another podium in the European Cup after returning from an injury. "I realized that my future is no longer in the world of professional skiing".

A question of stimuli and sacrifices, rather than competitiveness which, after an injury at the beginning of the season, he had already found quickly. A new retirement at a very young age is surprising, and we are talking about the German gigantist Bastian Meisen who just today turns 25 and, in the last few hours, has announced his farewell to competitive skiing. "I was operated on in November and worked hard to get back to the World Cup and to a European Cup podium, but I have reached a point where I no longer see a future in professional skiing - explained Meisen - This is why my journey ends here, I will never thank the family, the technicians, the skimen, the teammates and all the people I had by my side enough ”. His last race at the German championships last month, however, Meisen had once again worn a bib in the CdM at the end of February, disputing the two giants of Bansko, and on 7 February he had taken his second podium in the European Cup, third in the giant bis of Berchtesgaden. Seven appearances in the maximum circuit, with a placement in points on the occasion of the parallel giant in Alta Badia, 19th.
