Having finished second in the men's giant of the Italian Championships in Tarvisio Davide Simoncelli has announced his retirement from & rsquo; activity & agrave; racing.

"I think it's matured's time to step aside - says the 36-year old from Rovereto to fisi.org -. It was a bit '' of time that I thought, gi & agrave; last summer I had seriously considered this eventuality & agrave ;, then the sixth in Giant opening World Cup in S & ouml; Sölden had convinced me to continue, but not c''era pi & ugrave; passion than before. I have to make so many thanks after all these years, starting with the Golden Flame who welcomed me between their ranks to continue with the Federation that has allowed me to compete at the highest level in the World Cup. I want to remember all the coaches and teammates with whom I shared my career, my family and my girlfriend (Irene Curtoni, Ed.) will remember & ograve; forever the first victory on the Gran Risa, the home track for us Italians and among the pi & ugrave; difficult circuit, and the podium at Beaver Creek in 2012 that arriv & ograve; after the serious accident suffered a few months before. Do not think I have any regrets, surely I was not always in top condition but I gave all I could give, maybe I'm missing a medal in World Championships and Olympics, but you can not & ograve; always have everything. Now penser & ograve; my future, are national instructor and in the coming months to & ograve; the coaching course, I hope to stay in the ski world that & egrave; my life ".
Born October 30, 1979, Davide Simoncelli dispute the first FIS in January 1995. L & rsquo; only participation in a World Cup race juniors & egrave; slalom in 1999 in which he was twelfth.
