"Domme", a blow for everyone: Italy loses its lighthouse, Streif its King

The first reactions to the terrible injury that occurred in Dominik Paris; recovery times are still unknown, but the goal can only be to return for the 2021 World Cup in Cortina.

Someone called him a shot, others a blow from which it will be difficult to recover, especially for the entire men's sector of Italian skiing which saw him as the absolute beacon, numbers and performances in hand. The injury that took place today in Dominik Paris is the most painful thing that could have happened to the movement, for a champion who had now found the champion dimension, to become in a few years the greatest downhill skier ever; the road was already marked and now, only 30 years old, "Domme" will have to find it again with the right and correct times, after a stop that will be very long. Rupture of the anterior cruciate of the right knee and microfracture of the fibula head; a diagnosis that makes reading and repeating very bad, as it has hurt the many friends and opponents who have already expressed on social media all the solidarity with the athlete and the man, highly esteemed by all. It is clear that since this injury has already occurred in the late season, recovering at full speed also for the next one will not be easy at all. Once we have intervened on the joint, we will have to understand what the recovery times will really be, but the goal can only be to try to be the best Paris, or at least close to the extraordinary athlete admired in the last 13 months in particular, in occasion of the world championships in Cortina 2021. The only certainty is that the possibility of playing his first downhill World Cup (but also the general one, was open and how ...), at the end of a duel with Beat Feuz that would have been exciting, vanished in one damn curve on the snows of Kirchberg. In that instant, Italy's skiing has lost its lighthouse and Streif its King. Saturday, in the Kitzbuehel temple, will not be the same.
