Mattia Casse is doing well, very well, at the age of 30 he is in full swing and finally in the past season he has shown he can be constantly with the best jet men in the world; sixth in the final super-g standings, twice fifth in Lake Louise and Kitzbuehel in the discipline, the Piedmontese can look higher and higher, towards that first podium in the World Cup now very close. And who knows even a medal in Cortina and the next Games, with a double chance between Beijing 2022 and Milan-Cortina 2026: "Yes, I would like to be there in 2026, but first I must qualify for the next edition of the Olympics, if we think that I have never participated - says Mattia - Meanwhile there will be a world championship at home, I am very happy and I think it was important to go beyond politics and economic issues, albeit important.
I already know Vertigo thanks to the Italian championships, although I would have preferred to play the World Cup finals, of course: we'll see what we can do at the World Cup ... ".
Casse expects a very competitive national team: “Certainly the girls are always there to play it, in multiple disciplines. I take this opportunity to renew my compliments to Federica Brignone for last season, I think it will be galvanized by what has been done and in Cortina it will be able to do a lot, maybe even more in super-g and with materials that are well suited to the snow that we will find. Marta Bassino herself, obviously Sofia Goggia in speed, but also attention to the Austrians. The favorites among men? There may be a lot of them, but if we talk about fast races I indicate the most dangerous for us Mayer and Feuz ".
Very little was missed in the 90s junior world class downhill, just ten years ago, to finally get on a podium of CdM: “In super-g I definitely grew up, putting together the good things already done in training - it is his analysis - Downhill I still have problems managing the situation between the first race and the race, I'm trying to file them in terms of materials, but above all, attitude and ability to adapt to the track, since I still have the tendency to ... do as I please. Casse who was able to work well on the Stelvio with his teammates and underlines the goodness of the work done by the FISI: “In the last few days controversies have been made, in my opinion unnecessary, for what happened with the positivity that emerged. The federation has done everything possible for our safety and I believe, speaking now as an acquired Bergamo and therefore well aware of how much Covid has taken away and made us suffer, that now we need to move forward ".
