Our analysis of the possibilities in terms of the overall classification of Dominik Paris: after the "hole" of Beaver Creek, it is necessary to return close to the monstrous points average of the last three months of last season to fight with Kristoffersen and Pinturault.

It will be very hard, even more so after the "hole" of Beaver Creek, where the 44 points collected in the two quick races on the "Birds of Prey" represented a first void of screenplay which, in Dominik Paris's dream of fighting for the general classification of the World Cup, you could not afford, calendar in hand.
Yet, considering that you are traveling at an average point far away from those "monstrous" of Marcel Hirscher, that the top of the national speed and the whole movement could never have approached in recent years, some chances still exist to think of see Domme fighting for the crystal ball at least until March.
A JANUARY IN DEFENSE
So far, a quarter of the total races of the program have been played, or 11 out of 44: 5 fast (3 super-gs and 2 descents) and 6 techniques, with 3 giants, 2 slaloms and 1 parallel giant. There are therefore 33, with 8 descents, 5 super-gs, 6 giants, 10 slalom, 3 combined and 1 parallel giant.
Recalling that the new combined formula will allow the best time in the quick test to start first in the slalom race (and thus the second and all the others, without therefore reversing the 30), the possibilities for a man like Paris that among the rapid gates knows how to get by and how, increase exponentially in this discipline.
A necessary element to rebalance the dispute a bit since currently the Carabiniere of the Val d''Ultimo sails 130 points from the leader Kristoffersen and, at the calendar level, he will still have 13 quick races available against the 17 techniques (plus the three combined, in fact). The most difficult month will certainly be January, with 6 slaloms and 1 giant (Adelboden) against only 2 descents (Wengen, which Domme "hates", and Kitzbuehel) and a super-g (always in Kitz), while in February and March will basically go hand in hand.
THE AVERAGE POINTS
This season, excluding the two giants of Soelden and Beaver Creek where he did not qualify for the 2nd round, Paris travels an average of 50 points per race out of the 5 disputed (249 points collected). Taking as reference Kristoffersen for his performance in slalom (similar speech for Pinturault), even if other sprinters like Mayer, Kilde and Kriechmayr that we will see in the "direct clashes" with Dominik, the Norwegian has an average of 63 points out of 6 technical tests disputed, many less than the 80-85 (always talking about giant and slalom) of the Hirscher of the last two seasons.
Ergo, with fewer races available and a lower average points, the comparison becomes complicated; if we go to analyze however what Domme did from Bormio 2018 on the eve of the races on the Stelvio this year, here in the last 12 months and in 14 fast races (we do not take into account the combined Wengen and Bansko, without points to report) the average was 73.78 points per race. You will need a trend of that type, gaining 10-15 points per race in the distance comparison with the technical skier of reference (Kristoffersen and Pinturault above all, of course), as well as doing very well in the three combined combined, to live the dream of bringing back the World Cup in Italy, 25 years after Alberto Tomba.
The "Bomba" triumphed in Bormio, where Dominik Paris' second career began, with that magical brace on the Stelvio 12 months ago. And in a few days, with the first of the three Valtellina races scheduled for Friday 27, we will be back up there ...
