A good start to the season for Mattia Casse, sprinter of the Italian team, in the World Cup for the past 10 years. An athlete with great potential, an athlete who just has to "explode".
"I've always been labeled a promise of skiing, but there is no specific reason why the great result has not yet arrived. I always try to look ahead. The first injury I had, the shoulder injury, I don't think it slowed my growth. Maybe the injury I suffered on my ankle slowed him down. In that period I lost many months, it was the Olympic year, it was a moment of my career where it would have been better not to hurt me â€explains Mattia Casse.
And who knows, maybe this is not the right season for Mattia to make the big shot. The Italian has already achieved an excellent fifth place in the Lake Louise super-giant just 11 cents from the third step of the podium.
"Starting in the top 30, everything is easier - Mattia Casse continues - I also have a little more confidence in myself as I had already done some good results last year. In Lake Louise I started with 21, the snow was good and it was a beautiful day. I managed to get a good race out. "
"I would like to improve in downhill. The first podium in the World Cup when it comes will come. I will try to improve race by race. My goals are always those of when I started doing the World Cup. Maybe I lacked continuity before. I must continue on this path. Perhaps this year I have more pressure than before I was younger, now at my age everything is not forgiven. The objective now is continuity, to climb the rankings and to take me further and further ahead to start in a good position next season and to be able to play with it. Next year there will also be the World Championships in Cortina, so I want to aim for qualifying because it would be even better to participate in a home World Cup, "concludes Mattia Casse.
